Delhi, under Zone IV of India’s seismic map, falls in a high-risk seismic zone. Experts warn that shallow earthquakes—like the one felt today—can be more intense and damaging due to their depth.
Bihar Hit by Earthquake Hours After Delhi
Just a few hours after the tremors in Delhi, an earthquake of magnitude 4 struck Bihar. The earthquake took place at 8:02 a.m. on Monday with its epicentre at a depth of 10 km below the ground. Its epicentre was Siwan district, said NCS.
No immediate damage or casualties were reported, but people in the affected areas felt the tremors strongly. Numerous residents scurried out of their buildings in terror, remembering earlier earthquakes in the area.

Delhi-NCR often feels tremors because of earthquakes originating in the Himalayas, Afghanistan, or China. Even though deep quakes lose intensity during transmission, shallow quakes like today’s could be more damaging.
The authorities are still keeping a watch, and emergency helpline “112” has been made public for any support in connection with the earthquake by Delhi Police.
Conclusion
Delhi and Bihar tremors remind us of India’s seismic risk. Although there was no immediate damage or casualty, experts believe that the people should remain cautious for aftershocks. Citizens are asked to observe earthquake safety guidelines and remain prepared by the government.
