Fire Breaks Out at Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, No Casualties

Massive Fire Breaks Out at Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj

An outrageous fire touched the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj on Sunday around 4:30 PM. The fire ignited at a Gita press camp, which is located in Sector 19, across Shastri Bridge. Several cottages belonging to Gita Press and Akhil Bharatiya Dharm Sangh were destroyed. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.

Officials have stated that the ignition of the fire was due to a cylinder blast that happened while the food was being cooked. The blast set off multiple chains, leading to multiple cylinders exploding one after another. But fortunately, it took just one hour to put out the fire, as the fire brigades were called immediately to the scene.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited the area where the fire broke out and checked the situation himself. He told at the scene that the incident would be thoroughly investigated. PM Narendra Modi made calls to CM Yogi asking more information regarding the fire.

The trustee of Gita Press, Krishna Kumar Khemka, was shocked and saddened by the incident but expressed relief that there were no casualties. The leader of the Samajwadi Party, Akhilesh Yadav, remarked that the fire at the Maha Kumbh Mela should be taken seriously and immediate action must be taken to ensure such accidents do not happen in the future.

Plenty of questions have arisen apprehending whether safety measures for public gatherings such as Maha Kumbh are enough. More stringent regulations of other safety measures, such as allowing space allocation and conducting fire safety audits, must be implemented to avoid further catastrophes. Making sure fire safety equipment is ample, especially in sections with high risks, is important.
