Heavy Fog Blankets Hyderabad’s Outskirts in the Morning, Causing Commute Problems
Hyderabad: On January 17, 2025, thick fog engulfed Hyderabad’s offskirts, reducing visibility greatly. The covering caused visibility problems for Hyderabad’s commuters in dense areas such as LB Nagar, Saroornagar, Hayathnagar, Vanasthalipuram, Injapur, and many other areas.
Fog Strikes Places in Hyderabad
Hyderabad’s outer highways and roadways faced an influx of thick fog. Visibility in areas like LB Nagar, Saroornagar, Hayathnagar, and Vanasthalipuram dropped to just 100-150 meters between 6:00 and 7:00 AM. By 8:00 AM, visibility improved slightly to 300-400 meters, but normal conditions returned only after 9:00 AM.
Heavily Reduced Visibility delayed commutes as traffic moved slower than usual. People riding two-wheelers and pedestrians struggled moving in the thick fog compared to other people.
IMD Has Predicted Similar Conditions
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) also reported the latest weather data for Hyderabad on January 17, 2025. The city is experiencing a temperature range of 18°C (minimum) to 28°C (maximum), with partly cloudy skies and haze dominating the weather conditions. The IMD predicts similar weather conditions for the next week. Click Here
Other parts of India, including deep into the North, are also experiencing icy cold waves accompanied by dense fog. States of Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh continue to report visibility issues in the morning time, therefore affecting traffic by road and rail
Reactions of the Commuters
Fog appears to be a common theme that commuters have to battle. For instance, one resident of LB Nagar commented, “I had to wait a few minutes before I could fully get a clear view of what was in front of me while driving to work today.” An aid came from Hayathnagar, where a commuter said, “The fog was so bad that I couldn’t even see the street lights.”
Conclusion
Dense fog coupled with low visibility met the suburbs of Hyderabad in the early hours of the day. When it was closer to 9:00 AM, things got better. IMD recommends commuters to stay careful during early mornings and reports that foggy weather is likely to occur in parts of India in the coming days.
