Samay Raina: The Young Star of Comedy and Chess
Standup comedian and Youtuber Samay Raina is a chess lover who is now among the most loved youth icons in the country. He was born to a Kashmiri Pandit family with his renowned journalist father, Rajesh Raina, and his mother, Sweet Raina, who has had a tremendous impact on his life. He spent most of his childhood in Hyderabad and studied printing engineering at PVG’s College of Engineering and Technology, Pune.
Samay Raina’s venture into professional comedy started back in 2019 when he achieved a significant milestone by winning the Comicstaan competition Season 2 along with Aakash Gupta. This made him shift his base to Mumbai, where he quickly made his mark on the growing stand-up comedy scene in India.

Samay Raina entertained all during this KBC episode with his remarks along the lines of where he saw Amitabh Bachchan’s movies and how well he treated them. And to our amusement, he narrated how the first, second, and third movies he saw of Big B were Sooryavansham, simply because of its endless re-runs on Sony Max.
Even during the deepest part of the conversation about Sooryavansham, he desperately wanted to ask Amitabh Bachchan why, after already knowing the poisoned kheer was going to be served, he tasted it a second time. It left Amitabh literally belly laughing.
In a different segment of the show, Amitabh recited one of his famous dialogues in KBC, which is ‘Rishte mein toh hum tumhare baap lagte hain, naam hai Shahenshah’.
Samay mockingly said, ‘Aapne beta bana hi dia hai toh property mei thoda hissa? It had Amitabh laughing uncontrollably, and it means that if you made me your son, can I at least get a share of the property?
Moreover, Samay claimed that he attempted to gain entry into Amitabh’s bungalow in Mumbai but was assaulted by the guards. Amitabh could not contain his laughter, which made this moment one of the most amusing in KBC.
