The new Jammu Railway division will be especially crucial for the railway development of the Jammu & Kashmir valley. It extends from Pathankot through Jammu, Udhampur to Srinagar, and it also includes a line to Baramulla with a total length of 742.1 kilometers. This will help the people of this region in fulfilling their longstanding requirement for improved means of transportation; this will also help in tourism growth, employment generation, and better social infrastructure.
Rayagada Railway Division Building
Furthermore, Modi will also announce the laying of the foundation stone of the Rayagada Railway Division Building in Odisha, in an attempt to strengthen the railway connection between Andhra Pradesh and Odisha to boost growth in the region.
Advantages of These Projects
There are various advantages of the railway projects, as described below:
- Increased Efficiency: Rail networks will enable increased movement of people and goods between the different cities.
- Reduced Congestion at Terminals: As Hyderabad becomes busier, the Charlapalli terminal will reduce the congestion presently existing at the other busy terminals.
- Increased Revenue from Tourism: Tourism will be stimulated with the enhancement of facilities at Jammu and Rayagada.
- Rising Economy: There will be jobs created and possibilities of increased business in the area.
- More Convenience to Passengers: Advanced and new terminals will enhance comfort to passengers as the facilities will be international standard.
Effect on Urban and Regional Growth
With various new terminals, including Charlapalli, spread around Hyderabad, the terminal congestion around the customer hubs will ease. Passengers will find it easier to access Hyderabad’s major terminals with the expansion of the new terminals and other existing ones. Likewise, the Jammu Rail Division will increase India’s northern railway communication and make more parts of Jammu and Kashmir available. In addition, the Rayagada Railway Division Building will enhance the connectivity of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, thereby expanding the regional economy.
