Rishabh Pant to Lead Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025

Rishabh Pant to Lead Lucknow Super Giants for IPL 2025 Season, confirmed by LSG’s principal owner

Rishabh Pant will lead the Lucknow Super Giants for the upcoming 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League. This was confirmed on Monday by LSG’s principal owner, Sanjiv Goenka. The IPL tournament will kick off on the 21st of March in 2025.

Pant Becomes IPL’S Most Expensive Player

Rishabh Pant is now the most expensive player in IPL, following the auction in Jeddah last year. Lucknow Super Giants spent a record Rs 27 crore in acquiring him after he had been cut off with the Delhi Capitals. He was with the Delhi Capitals since 2016.

Having started captaining the Delhi Capitals in the 2021 IPL edition due to Shreyas Iyer’s injury, Rishabh went into IPL 2022 as the retained captain. He, however, was released ahead of the 2025 seasons, and that allowed the Lucknow Super Giants to get him in an unprecedented signing.

Rishabh Pant’s Comeback

Pant’s performance in IPL 2024 was stellar. Following the horrible car wreck he was involved in in December 2022, many did wish him well but did not believe he could return to the sport ever again, but his determination proved them wrong.

During IPL 2024, Pant played 13 matches and scored 446 runs, demonstrating his mastery. His achievements did not stop there. He was recalled to the Indian T20 team and was part of the side that claimed the ICC World Cup in 2024, co-hosted by the West Indies and the USA.

In the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, which was held in Australia, Pant finished as the 4th highest run scorer with 255 runs, including a knock of 61 runs off 33 balls, in nine innings. His brilliant form makes him a captaincy favorite for the season of the Lucknow Super Giants

The aim for LSG with Rishabh’s guidance is to win their first title for the IPL. The crowd is eager to observe how the dynamic wicketkeeper batsman will manage such a powerful side on the ground.
