Know about Sakat Chauth
Sakat Chauth occurs on the fourth day after the Amavasya in the month of Magha in the Hindu lunar calendar. Many people across India, especially in the north, have a tradition of loving the moon on those specific dates. The celebrations are based upon the vast patterns of Hinduism and tradition of worshipping Lord Ganesha, an Indian God worshipped as the Bringer of success, wisdom and prosperity
On this day, devotees pray to Lord Ganesha and perform rituals such as lighting lamps and offering modaks and laddoos. Women observe a strict fast and break it only after sighting the moon and offering prayers. This tradition is particularly well known in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Chhattisgarh.
