US Presidential Inauguration 2025: Reflection of Modi’s Governance in Trump’s Policies!

Reflection of Modi’s Governance in Trump’s Policies During the 2025 US Presidential Inauguration: A Crossroads of Patriotism and Policy Redefining National Values

Donald Trump was sworn into office as the 47th president of the United States on January 20th, 2025. He faced backlash after forgetting to place his hand on the two Bibles held by his wife, Melania, who stood beside him. During his first inauguration on January 20, 2017, Trump placed his right hand atop two Bibles held by the First Lady.

After taking oath, his proclamations were loud and simple: “America’s decline is over. A new golden age begins.” Trump, in his first address, avowed to restore America’s power and position in the sphere of international relations.

Along with him, JD Vance assumed his office as the 50th vice president, being the first-ever millennial to serve as vice president. Fittingly, Melania Trump as the first lady caused a stir at the Commander and Chief Inaugural Ball. On the other hand, the wife of the vice president, Usha Chilukuri Vance, of Indian origin, became the second lady of the United States.

This inauguration is the event that epitomizes the symbolism and clout of leadership since this election irresistibly attracted world attention. Trump essentially outlines everything that seeks to change in America to get the past glory of the country. Trump’s vision for rising America is similar to how his one of his best friend Narendra Modi governs India. Both install nationalism and cultural themes as factors that serve to redefine a country’s values.

Economic Vision: MAGA vs Make in India

Both leaders tend to have their economic nationalist focuses through Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan and Modi’s “Make in India” campaign. Both Trump’s and Modi’s initiatives plan on using their economic policies to strengthen the local markets and reduce the need for imports.

In Trump’s previous presidency, he placed tariffs on China, started trade wars, and put American jobs first. This furthered his commitment to revive the U.S. economy and emphasize his promise.

Modi is focused on attracting foreign investors and increasing the output for local manufacturing through the “Make in India” campaign. While Modi’s policies appeared to lean towards globalization, Trump’s sough economic protectionism.

The question is, do these policies offer a sustainable pathway for the growth of their economies, or are they merely political tools to rally their supporters?

Patriotism and the Rebranding of Culture

Trump and Modi brandish patriotism in the United States and India, respectively. Trump’s “America First” slogan and Modi’s framing of India as a Vishwaguru resonate with their electorate. Trump displaying traditional American self-reliance when he takes office, along with his announcing national energy emergency, reflects self-serving deep Americanism.

Atmanirbhar Bharat is one of Modi’s favorite slogans. It perfectly aligns with his vision of a new India. An example is renaming Rajpath to Kartavya Path, signifying and memorializing self-governance as opposed to the colonial set of rules.

These shifts in culture require critical thinking: Do they properly seek to preserve their nations’ interests, or is it simply aya way of politics?

Immigration and Citizenship: NRC and Border Policies

Trump’s restrictions on immigration have been some of the most polarizing aspects of his presidency. His government ended birthright citizenship to illegal immigrants, declared a national emergency on the southern border, and set stringent restrictions on asylum.

Modi’s NRC and CAA incited similar discussions in India. The NRC had the goal of recognizing and compiling legal citizens, while the CAA provided citizenship to specific persecuted minority groups while barring others. Both laws have been critiqued for being overly narrowing towards certain socioeconomic classes.

Trump’s views on border security echoes Modi’s ideal of an India that is secure in its boundaries. The socio-political ramifications of these implementations, however, pose daunting questions: Are these policies meant to help unite the nation more?

Criticism And Challenges

Trump and Modi both have a lot of hurdles to overcome. There are many opponents of Trump who find his approaches to the immigration policies discriminatory toward marginalized groups and harmful towards the image of America internationally. Modi’s NRC and CAA have received similar issues as well, but for other reasons.

While taking the oath, Trump’s religious devotion and his stand on LGBTQ equality further deepen the split within America into two broad groups. He said that movinforward,rd the US government will only recognise “two genders, male and female. The Modidi Ram Rajya vision has extensive appeal among the Hindus but raises questions regarding the secular character of India.

Final Thoughts: A Common Goal Or A Divergent Paths Globally Impacting?

The governance by Donald Trump and Narendra Modi shows a strong relation between religion, nationalism, and modern politics. From the “America First” of Trump to the concept of Ram-Rajya of Modi, both have exercised their own form of patriotism and approach to governance.

Their methods initiated conversations on inclusion, identity, and the way power is exercised. Do these policies seem to represent international leadership trends, or are they exceptional within the socio-political context of their states?

Moving forward, these deeds will reverberate around the world with ramifications on democracy and national identity for a long time to come.
